All of us have heard that “beauty is in the
details”, and I have recently discovered how true that is. The only
difference is that, in my case, happiness is in the details. If you don’t
understand what I mean, keep reading. :)
There
are really few things that can make us extremely happy, but only because we do not own
them, does not mean that we can’t enjoy our life. What I am trying to say is
that it’s the small actions and objects that can
influence our mood or the way we see life.
A
smile, a new dress, a beautiful landscape, a childhood photo… All of these are
things that we sometimes forget to enjoy. In my opinion, the key to a better
life is trying to see the good and the beauty in everything.
I
am now going to give you some examples of small things that have the ability to
slightly or significantly change my mood, and I am going to begin with the
object that made me think about writing this article in the first place.
I
have been really busy lately with all sorts of tests and exams, and I also had
lots of homework to do, and I always hated it and I would always spend a lot of
time trying to convince myself that I had to write, before actually starting to
do my homework. But that has changed once I bought a new pen. Yes, simple as
that.
My
old pen had a little crack somewhere, and it was sometimes difficult for me to
write properly. And the point was also really thick, which was making my
handwriting pretty ugly.
So
I bought a new, beautiful, thin point pen, and I couldn’t wait to use it. I’m
not only talking about the first time, I still love writing with that pen, and
that makes me enjoy doing my homework a bit more.
Another thing that makes me smile is
the action of drawing the curtains in the morning and letting the sun in. One
thing that I love doing is tying each curtain with a bow, which makes my room
appear more welcoming and girly, so it’s just another small thing that makes a difference.
I’m not a big fan of candles, but
whenever I feel like my room needs a touch of coziness and warmth, I light my
vanilla scented candle, and it instantly brings a smile on my face. After that,
I usually read or watch a movie, because that’s what it inspires me to do.
The last thing that I like to do is
probably something that you do on a regular basis but, for me, it’s just some
occasional interest. Sometimes I feel like my room lacks color and life,
therefore some colorful flowers are exactly what I need to completely change
the appearance of everything.

To sum up, we don’t need to have
everything in order to feel good. It’s the small things in life that we should
really take care of, the people, objects and actions that inspire us and
enlighten our mood.
